Telemed

November 1969 -- October 1975

Archtect Real-Time Medical Data Collection System
Architected and implemented a system to accept three-channel ECG data transmitted over telephone lines. Real-time software was written in Sigma 5 assembler (SDS/XDS). Our system was required to sample three channels of data for 20 phone lines to 10 bits of precision 500 times per second.
User Interface
Developed the method of user interaction and overall architecture of the system, using only a flashing light.
Distribution system
Assisted in design of the distribution system, which transmitted English language reports over the dial-up telephones network to printers at the client hospitals.
Pattern Recognition
Participated in the early phases of the rewrite of the pattern recognition and wave measurement/classification system.
Compilers
Ported the XPL programming language to two of the operating systems used at our site, RBM and BPM.
Documentation Tools
Created utilities using XPL including editors and document layout utilities for fixed-width fonts.
